Sri Harold Klemp,

the Mahanta,

the Living ECK Master .

What Is the Main Focus of ECK?

"At recent seminars, you have talked about abortion, AIDS, and homosexuality. I find these topics very important today. Why aren’t these issues formally addressed in workshops at seminars?

“They are social issues. The main purpose of the ECK teachings is to help people find their way back home to God, no matter what their circumstances in life.

“People have all sorts of problems in life, simply because that is the way of things on earth. There are those who have to deal with heart disease, cancer, mental and emotional problems, old age, deafness, war in their homeland, crime on the streets, and even the effects of accidents.

“The teachings of ECK are about spiritual freedom. The main focus in ECK is not on relationships, an abused childhood, or on any of the other social conditions that result from karma that people bring from the past. We look at these problems from the top. How can people gain in spiritual freedom and not do in the future more of what has brought on their problems of today?

“Yes, we must deal with the issues of daily life.

However, we also must watch our emotions and not

let them trap us into tunnel vision.

“This would only bring on more lifetimes in spiritual

darkness.”

Viewing Difficulties

“This exercise allows you to see why long-lasting or hard-to-solve problems are still with you.”

“In contemplation, look at your problem and ask yourself which of these viewpoints you hold about it.

1.You view the problem as a battering ram. When it approaches, you fall over backward, flattened to the ground.

2.You view the problem as a vital, valuable lesson which will teach you something. You believe it will become a spiritual springboard to give you the necessary incentive and energy to climb up and out of your present situation.

“Your attitude about your problem holds the key to whether your experience with it will be easy or difficult, long or short.

“Those people who have spiritual success don’t say, “Oh no!” and fall down when a problem comes up. They look to see the reason or lesson behind it. They ask the Mahanta, “What can I learn from it? How has it made me stronger?”

“Do you want to be happy? Then set out to learn about the connecting diamonds in your own life. They shimmer and glisten all around you.

“But always begin your search by singing HU, or some other love song to God.”
