Intimacy and Karma
“Do we take on the karma of an individual with whom we are intimate, even if there is not a marriage? And if so, how is this worked through by Soul?”
”Most certainly! While there may or may not be a problem with venereal diseases, there is surely the added complication of emotional tie-in. Was your love finally rejected? Or did you reject another’s love? Every relationship has an echo of sorts and will color your outlook, for good or ill, toward others.
“Every relationship is based on karma. It may be one from the distant past or immediate present. All karma must be resolved, though.
“This does not suggest that one is to avoid all relationships. But do make wise choices! After all, you will have to live with them as surely as the sun rises.
So many times I say, Be honest with yourself. Do your spiritual exercises. You are Soul! The exercises are your direct line to the Inner Master. He is the Wayshower, the one who can lead you safely through the minefields of life.”

Movie Screen
“Find a comfortable position and relax. Shut your eyes, and look at the inner screen. Imagine you are watching a movie screen. Sometimes it will be black, sometimes white, sometimes gray. There may even be times when you can see a scene or a moving picture.
“At first, try looking straight at the screen. After a while this may not work, so let your inner vision stray to the left or right about ten degrees. Suddenly, out of the corner of your eye, you may notice that something has appeared on the screen. This is how you begin to look for the Master.
“In a relaxed way, look obliquely, knowing that your attention is really to the center. Begin singing HU or chanting your secret word.
“As you do this spiritual exercise and sing HU to yourself, it begins a purifying, cleansing action on Soul. Old habit patterns—
the gossip, the idle chatter, the dishonesty with
oneself—start to fall away.”
