Have you had a dream which you felt was significant? Have you noticed your feelings or intuition about places, things and people? Are coincidences a regular thing in your life? Have you had dreams about friends and family who have passed on?
Spiritual Experiences – How to understand them
Research shows that one in three people have some kind of spiritual experience. Examples would be visions, dreams, so-called coincidences or events which had a major impact but seem to defy explanation. They could also include something subtle, like a feeling of knowing or a strong intuitive sense.
Exploring Spiritual Experiences
A lot of people keep quiet about their spiritual experiences because they know that it is considered okay to talk to God, but it is a different matter all together if you think that God talks to you! The spiritual path of Eckankar has been trying to change that. Over the past six years, members of Eckankar have held meetings around Ireland where people can explore and discuss these important events. Eckankar also teaches methods and techniques to help us understand our spiritual experiences.
Here are some of the experiences that have been brought up in these meetings and our “take” on them:
Dreams with a departed loved one
This kind of dream can upset some people but it really is a blessing. This dream confirms that the person who has left this world is now happy and well in the inner or heavenly worlds. They have come back to you to say, “Hi, I’m well and happy now”. It also has the benefit of confirming that there is life after death.
Intuition or knowingness
If you have a feeling that you should do something, go somewhere or contact someone, for no logical reason other than it ‘feels right’, this is intuition. It may also be a message from your higher self or Soul to do the thing that ‘feels right’. Soul has a higher viewpoint and can see more than our minds do. It then sends us messages as feelings or intuition.
Coincidences or amazing connections
Sometimes when we look at events in our lives we can see what appear to by amazing connections. Often we put these down to coincidence but sometimes these ‘coincidences’ are just too convenient. We have to wonder about what is happening? How is this being organised? Is there a Higher Power or an Angel looking after me?
Spiritual Questions
At our meetings around the country we have been also been asked:
How do I interpret my dreams?
Why do I have bad dreams (nightmares)?
Why did God have to put me through such a tough lifetime?
Where does “mind” come into spirituality?
How does spirituality apply to me?
Where do animals go when they die? – will I see my pet again?
What is the role of illness in my life?
These questions help to illustrate the spiritual experiences and needs of people in Ireland.
Meetings
Unfortunately, there are not many places where people can explore and discuss these important events in their lives. That is until now. Eckankar, a spiritual path, which teaches methods and techniques to help us understand our spiritual experiences, will be holding an open discussion on spiritual experiences at:a number of locations around the country. Check our Calendar for locations of upcoming meetings by clicking here.
All are welcome to what are lively and interesting meetings where spiritual experiences and stories will be explored and discussed. There will also be a number of techniques and exercises shared at the meeting which people can use to help get a better understanding of their personal experiences. One of those techniques is the HU Song and you can find out more info on it by clicking here.
